Dr. Estelle Raveloaritiana
Agricultural and Environmental Scientist
Agricultural and Environmental Scientist
I am a researcher with a Ph.D. in Ecology; I specialize in biodiversity, ecosystem services, and agricultural landscapes. Currently, I work as a postdoctoral researcher at Westlake University, where I am currently leading research initiatives spanning multiple countries, such as Madagascar, Brazil, Indonesia, and China.
My passion lies in exploring the connections between biodiversity, land use, and ecosystem functions and services, particularly within human-dominated landscapes. My academic journey includes international research experiences, including stays at the Agroecology Group at the University of Göttingen, Germany and an exchange program at the University of Helsinki, Finland, enriching my understanding of ecological dynamics across diverse contexts.
In addition to my passion for science, I am deeply committed to sustainable development and the empowerment of girls and women in both the scientific and social spheres, particularly in rural areas. Growing up in a rural community, I witnessed first-hand environmental degradation, which fuelled my interest in landscape restoration and rural improvement initiatives. Actively involved in academic and professional associations, I demonstrate a dedication to advancing my knowledge and fostering collaboration within my field. Fluent in Malagasy, English, and French, I leverage my strong linguistic abilities to engage in international research collaborations. Moreover, my extra activities and leadership roles, such as co-founding and presiding the URCD association, underscore my commitment to both community and academic services.
